Vinyl-a-Day #4: Nilsson - Pandemonium Shadow Show (RCA, 1967)
Vinyl-a-Day #4: Nilsson - Pandemonium Shadow Show (RCA, 1967)
Nilsson’s second album is definitely a departure from his more straight forward debut album, Spotlight on Nilsson (1966). In a year dominated by Sgt. Peppers imitators, this concept album stands out, and Nilsson even managed to make the two Beatles covers (“She’s Leaving Home,” “You Can’t Do That”) his own. Apparently, the Beatles invited Nilsson to London to meet them upon hearing the album! The standout cuts here, though, are Nilsson’s own compositions: “Cuddly Toy” (Covered by The Monkees), “Ten Little Indians,” “Sleep Late, My Lady Friend,” and “Without Her.”
I bought this record from 14 Records in Dallas, TX!
