Vinyl-a-Day 21: *GUEST ENTRY* Today, I am honored to post this guest entry from my friend Comedian/Filmmaker/Pro Wrestling Personality, seen and heard on the Real Ass Podcast and Zac Amico’s Midnight Spookshow, Star of Return To Nuke Em High and #ShakespearesShitstorm, and Pro Wrestling Manager Zac Amico!
From Zac:
Weird Al” Yankovic and Wendy Carlos- Peter & The Wolf/Carnival of the Animals- Part II (CBS, 1988)
Weird Al” Yankovic and Wendy Carlos- Peter & The Wolf/Carnival of the Animals- Part II (CBS, 1988)
The only Weird Al record not to be reprinted in his career spanning Squeezebox collection, this record is a departure from Al’s pop music mutations as well as a collaboration with Moog synthesizer pioneer Wendy Carlos. Usually known for parodies of radio hits centered around food and pop culture, this is instead a take on the children’s classic Peter and The Wolf on the A side, and on the B side an unofficial sequel to the French Romantic composition Carnival of the Animals. Yankovic narrates in all his animated nasal glory with Carlos providing an all synthesizer orchestra, a completely new venture from her previous work which includes the scores to A Clockwork Orange and Tron. What seems like(and still is) a fun children’s record, this is also a meeting of the greatest parody artist in pop history and the technological prodigy who helped design, perfect, and popularize the modern synthesizer.
