Vinyl-a-Day 19: Elton John - Madman Across the Water (Uni, 1971)
Elton John - Madman Across the Water (Uni, 1971)
What can be said about Sir Elton John’s output during the late-60s into the early-70s that hasn’t already been said? It’s a tough choice between “Tumbleweed Connection,” this album, and “Honky Chateau,” but ultimately I land here. It’s exists in a beautiful creative space that has the same creative energy that would lead to “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” but without the frenetic genre-hopping and bombast. It’s a little dark, very introspective and I like that. Plus, it’s got “Tiny Dancer” and “Levon” on it. Other favorites include the title track and “Indian Sunset.” What’s your favorite album by Reginald?
