A short blog on re-issuing the seminal Paul Williams & Roger Nichols album 'Someday Man' on vinyl - making it the first re-issue on wax in the U.S. since its debut in 1970 - has provoked a number of positive responses, not least from Williams himself…

Liner Notes Contributor Richard Barone and Paul Williams Pose With The New Someday Man

Ship To Shore PhonoCo .and Burger Records are proud to announce that Someday Man, the debut album by the songwriting team of Paul Williams and Roger Nichols, will be re-issued on vinyl for the first time with bonus tracks, brand-new liner notes by Williams and Nichols and in two exclusive color variants.

Before Paul Williams and Roger Nichols dominated the charts with "Rainy Days And Mondays" and "We've Only Just Begun," the songwriting super-team released their first collection of songs on 1970's Someday Man. Though the album did not ascend to the same heights as the duo's later material, it remains a favorite among music fans and the title track was covered at the time by The Monkees and Georgie Fame.

In addition to two demo bonus tracks, this brand-new, deluxe vinyl package includes in-depth liner notes not only from both Williams and Nichols, but also from Williams' collaborator and Bongos frontman Richard Barone. This re-issue is available in two variants: "Summer Was Forever" Sky Blue from Ship To Shore PhonoCo. and "New Day, Baby" White from Burger Records. Both are stunning, collectible and limited to 500 copies each.

A Few Words From The Someday Man Himself:

"The songwriting team of Williams and multi-instrumentalist Roger Nichols conceived some of the most monumental anthems of the 1970s. Paul's universal themes of defeat, heartbreak, and ultimate redemption married to Nichols' sweeping melodies that telegraphed resurrection and bittersweet hope provided a string of hits for a wide range of the era's major artists; from The Monkees and The Carpenters to Three Dog Night, Barbara Streisand, and Art Garfunkel. Eventually, this dynamic duo would split to pursue separate interests, with Williams ascending to superstar status as a singer, actor, and all-round celebrity, and Nichols continuing to influence the sounds of the decade by penning smash hits such as Paul Anka's "Times of Your Life." Both men made indelible impressions in our culture and consciousness, but the later achievements often eclipse this titanic team's debut, 1970's Someday Man." - Richard Barone.

"It was a long time ago when we made this record, but by God I'm still here and I'm thrilled that Ship to Shore took Someday Man - which was a labor of love for Roger Nichols and I - and made it available again, on vinyl: the way that music is supposed to be listened to.

It was the beginnings of my career, the beginnings of a great relationship with Roger Nichols.

Thanks to Richard Barone and all the guys at Ship to Shore for making this possible.  You made an old man very happy, a someday man, now a someday geezer, very pleased!" - Paul Williams.
